Second chances

I missed the April edition of Stories at The Storey, a local storytelling event held monthly in Lancaster. As I was unable to attend the event, I wanted to share my story here on Maddie & Books.
Well here it is, my personal interpretation of second chances.

Story Slam is an event that took place in June at The Duke's Theatre as part of First Fridays as organised by Lancaster Arts City.Sadly only three people turned up to this event however, I enjoyed it very much. I will certainly go again if it is held again. The idea behind Story Slam is to share stories and they were to be fictional stories derived from real life. I decided to write a story about an experience I had with a guy at university. Even though I am now miles away from university I decided to keep names completely out of the story, not only does this protect me from any potential backlash but I feel it add a certain something to the piece. As children could be at the event I had to try and keep the piece somewhere between a PG and a 12A - for those of you who no idea what those ratings are Frozen is a PG and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is a 12A. I thought that I would share the story here on Maddie & Books

Short Story: Never Should Have Let You Go

Hello, today I am sharing one of my short stories with you. As you may or may not know, as well as blogging about books, I write them. I write both novels and short stories. Never Should Have Let You Go is one of my shortest stories and is inspired by a Simple Plan song of the same name, I have embedded the video above so can listen to it if you wish whilst reading the story. This video originally was going to be part of an anthology I was writing but the idea has since been scrapped as I have been busy working on my novel, but if you would like to see an anthology or just more short stories from me, then let me know - most of my hard drive is taken up with stories I have written.

It has been one of those months. I've been sat writing, working away at A Fall From Grace and I've hit the point where I am wondering what is the point?

So September has been and gone, as has the September edition of Stories at the Storey. For those of you who have no idea what Stories at the Storey is, it's a local storytelling event held monthly in Lancaster. We get together and share stories that all connect loosely through a theme. The theme for September was Identity and this is my story on identity.

List: 30 before 30

09:00

This April, I turned 25. Turning 25 I half expected a panic to wash over me because if I was a piece of clothing, I'd be classed as vintage. Instead, I didn't panic and I still haven't. I just accepted for perhaps the first time in my life that I am getting older and there is nothing in the world that can change that. However, I can change the experiences I have of those years. So after some consideration and the realisation that I have spent the last two years essentially doing nothing thanks to my illness, I have decided that I am going to make a change to that and come up with a bucket list of things I would like to achieve in the near future before I turn 30. 30 might be five years away but if life has taught me anything is that those five years will come quicker than I want them to. They won't take forever to come like a Friday evening does when it is Monday.

Get To Know Me

09:00

I've been stuck at what to do for my first blog post. After a little bit of thinking and reading other blogs. I have finally settled on doing the get to know me tag. I personally can't think of anything better for a first blog post. So here are some questions about me and hopefully you know a bit more about me now.

1. Are you named after someone?
Neither my brother or myself are named after anyone. My parents made the decision not to name us after family otherwise we were going to end up with a string of names that were a mixture of German and English and wouldn't blend in wherever we lived.
